Typical translation delivery times
How long will my translation take?
Timelines for the delivery of translations depend on several factors, including the number of words, the language level, the file format, and the area of specialization. One translator can translate an average of 2,000 words per day. In addition, we have to allow time for project management, proofreading, and email exchanges. Below, you will find some information about the translation of documents of different lengths:
Short documents (500 – 5,000 words)
One translator usually translates between 1,500 and 2,000 words per day. Regardless of the size of the project, we always perform a quality check in order to ensure the translation doesn’t contain any errors and that the original formatting is respected fully. That’s why the translation of a file of about 2,000 words can take 2 days. The more time we have at our disposal for a task, the better the quality. Ultimately, a rush job affects the quality of the translation, which is our main concern.
Mid-length documents (5,000 to 10,000 words)
If you are dealing with tight deadlines, documents between 5,000 and 10,000 words will generally be handled by several translators. If a standard timeline works for you, then we’ll let a single translator handle the job. In order to ensure the consistency of your translation, we use translation software for terminology management. That way, all translators handling your project will respect the same terminology. Proofreading may require two or three additional days of work. It is reasonable to expect that the translation of a 10,000-word document will take 7 days of work.
Longer documents (10,000 words or more)
Because of our geographic distribution, we are in a position to handle large translation projects as a team. In such a case, each translator is entrusted with an additional task: project management, establishing a bilingual glossary and other aspects of the job.
This comprehensive approach and the close collaboration between our professional translators allow us to deliver high-quality results to you.
