Amer Centres are established across the emirate for Dubai residents to complete a wide variety of transactions and documentation related to government departments. Different private centres were present for such services earlier, but unlike Amer Centres, they were not under direct government supervision.

After filling up forms at such private centres, people had to visit General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA) headquarters to submit applications. However, with the opening of Amer centres, people can easily make requests for most of the different government services under the supervision of GDRFA. You can fill an application and submit it in the same place, which cuts down on time and increases the efficiency of work. These centres are owned privately but have to follow strict government guidelines and are subject to regular monitoring.

Amer Centres are part of a larger drive by the UAE government to bring greater efficiency in the governmental processes.
